Early Start Denver Model in Kogarah
Nurturing children with Autism one milestone at a time
Stages of Therapy
1. Assessment
An Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) assessment is the first step in providing therapy for children with Autism. This session goes for approximately 2 hours. It includes observing your child and conducting a parent interview to identify their strengths and areas needing support. The assessment evaluates developmental domains such as communication, social skills, play, cognitive abilities, motor skills, and adaptive behaviours, allowing the therapist to create personalised ESDM goals to support your child’s therapy.
Cost: $475
2. ESDM Therapy
Each ESDM therapy session lasts about an hour, focusing on the goals set during the ESDM autism assessment. Our therapist works directly with your child, engaging them in targeted activities to support skills like communication, social interaction, and play. We closely monitor your child’s progress and adjust strategies as needed. Parents receive personalised guidance on effective home-based autism strategies and can discuss any concerns. The fee includes parent feedback and administrative tasks such as note-taking.
Cost: $193.99 - extra charge for home visits
3. Review and NDIS reports
After 12 weeks of ESDM therapy, our therapist will review your child’s progress by evaluating their outcomes. This includes assessing how well your child is achieving their goals, discussing successes and challenges, and updating the therapy plan to support their continued development. NDIS progress reports are available upon request, with additional charges applying for both progress and NDIS reports. This process ensures a tailored and effective approach to autism therapy and aligns with NDIS requirements.
Cost: $150 a hour for Report writing (optional)

Yes, we do home visits, however there is an additional travel fee rate of 0.97c per a KM.
When a therapist provides sessions at your home, it's beneficial to create a dedicated, quiet space free from distractions to ensure effective therapy. The therapist will bring the necessary materials and activities. While not essential, having a small table and chair can be ideal if your child is able to sit, as it helps facilitate the therapy sessions.

ESDM is supported by a strong body of evidence. Research has shown that children who receive ESDM therapy experience significant improvements in social skills, language development, and cognitive abilities. Several studies, including randomised controlled trials, have demonstrated that early intervention with ESDM can lead to measurable developmental gains. Additionally, brain imaging studies have shown that ESDM can positively influence brain activity patterns in young children with autism, further supporting its effectiveness.

Mind Project welcomes both privately paying families and those accessing NDIS funding under Self-Managed or Plan-Managed arrangements.
At this time, we’re not able to offer services for NDIA-Managed participants. This allows us to provide families with greater flexibility, personalised support, and prompt access to appointments. Our fees align with the NDIS Price Guide 2025–2026, ensuring transparency and fairness across all our autism therapy services.

At Mind Project, parents are a vital part of the ESDM process. Your child will take part in fun, play-based sessions using toys and games that spark learning and connection. During each session, you’ll be guided in how to use these same strategies at home and in everyday routines—whether that’s mealtime, playtime, or time with siblings. We track progress every session so you can clearly see your child’s growth and celebrate each new step together. By partnering closely with families, we help skills learned in therapy become part of daily life.
“Patience, compassion, and personalised support is essential to help children reach their full potential.”
The Research behind ESDM
Randomised controlled trials (RCT) are the gold standard in research because they reduce bias and ensure reliable results. RCT involve randomly assigning participants to either a treatment or control group, these trials enable fair comparisons. ESDM is held in high regard in the academic community due to the multiple RCT’s which indicate ESDM as a superior intervention for children with ASD. Below are several journal articles evaluating the effectiveness of ESDM through randomised controlled trials.
Supported by rigorous, scientific methods, ESDM is backed by solid research.
Why play-based therapy matters.
“Play isn’t just fun—it’s the most powerful way young children learn new skills, build relationships, and discover their world.”
Jessica Laundy (ESDM Therapist)
